The LaserWriter IIf/IIg Installation Upgrade disk, version 1.0, contains all the files needed to upgrade your existing LaserWriter IIf/IIg printer software.

The printer software upgrade replaces parts of the existing LaserWriter IIf/IIg printer software. Before starting the installation, be sure that the hard disk on which you will install the new software has the original LaserWriter IIf/IIg printer software.
Also, before you use the installation software, your authorized Apple dealer needs to upgrade your printer’s read-only memory (ROM) with the new version. Once you have the new ROM in your printer and you have installed the new software, you’ll be ready to use your upgraded LaserWriter IIf/IIg.
ERRATA - LaserWriter IIf/IIg Owner’s Guide Update
The two PostScript Printer Description (PPD) files included on the installation disk have different names and icons than those shown in the LaserWriter IIf/IIg Owner’s Guide Update. The PPD file for the LaserWriter IIf is named APLWIIf2.PPD on the disk. The PPD file for the LaserWriter IIg is named APLWIIg2.PPD.
You may not need to use a PPD file—not all software programs require a PPD file for printing with a LaserWriter. Also, some programs may require that you use special setup files with a new PPD file. If you need assistance in setting up a program to use the new PPD files, see the documentation that came with your program or, if necessary, contact the software vendor directly.
